The Porch Café @ Bali

While traveling in Indonesia, I stopped in Sanur, a city by the coast and departure point for the boats to Nusa Lembongan (and the fantastic Indiana Kenanga restaurant), Lombok and the Gili islands. Sanur is said to be one of the first touristic destination in Bali that was then forgotten for the infamous Seminyak and Kuta. Nowadays, it is a chilled out town with temples everywhere, many options for dining and few good bars to listen to some music (for instance the three monkeys) – don’t expect a crazy night out, since most close at 10pm.

I love a good breakfast as the next woman, ok, well maybe I am a bit obsessed by breakfast. Anyways, during holidays, it’s a hide and seek game, when I always try to find the best options – healthy breakfast, many options, fresh fruit juice – all this in a relaxed atmosphere with nice staff to start the day on a super positive note.

Staying at Flashbacks guesthouse, a charming guesthouse, my breakfast happened in the Porch café. And gosh, I was a very happy woman, I can assure you that.

Homemade ciabatta bread, toasted perfectly, with some freshly cut avocados and tomatoes – with a hint of olive oil, a freshly squeezed juice of watermelon, infused green tea: I am in (healthy) breakfast heaven. The caesar salad and the burgers are also done with the same quest of a well balanced and tasty dish, while the Pavlova as a final touch is extremely good. The staff is super nice, efficient, and the lovely tables are arranged so that you have intimacy, can be on the terrace outside or in a private room with the air cond.

The menu is mostly western, presenting some healthy or hearty option – up to you.

I would highly recommend stopping at the porch for breakfast, and if you cannot, try the delicious dining options here – they are definitely a big hit!
