Exquisite truffle

The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur has been recently refurnished after its initial opening of 1932, for our greatest pleasure. Belonging to the prestigious YTL group, this colonial hotel is an exquisite palace that has a hint of nostalgia charm, a pinch of glamour, a breezy colorful orchid conservatory where you can dine / high tea, a luxurious Spa that is certainly the best to get pampered in Kuala Lumpur… and much more.

Setting foot in this national heritage site is indulging in luxurious historical surroundings (spying and murder histories here), where thorough and attentive service welcomes you and leads you to a relaxed and unforgettable moment. According to your mood, one of the various restaurants will definitely be the ideal setting for your lunch dinner or high tea. Briefly; Contango is mostly buffet, the Colonial café provides delicious colonial food in a lovely setting, the famous orchid conservatory can be booked for dining with a minimum spent of RM2000 unless you prefer to have tea there, same for the Drawing room. The Smoke house is a kind of gentlemen club where you can enjoy a pool game while sipping some drinks or a lunch.

We had lunch at the Colonial café, which presents delicious colonial food à la carte – and a set lunch including only the seasonal creations of the chef for the day. We chose the later and were rewarded with a classic but tasty shrimp and avocado cocktail, a remarkable and exquisite fleshy meat, namely lamb aromatized with thyme and a traditional truffle that was as exciting for the eyes as it was exquisite for the palate. Some delicious wine by the glass – white australian and red chilean to pair our meal, and we felt it was a truly special and memorable lunch.

Apart from having a fantastic dining experience with piano playing to accompany your food symphony, I would highly recommend spending some time at the Majestic spa – the best spa in Kuala Lumpur, in luxurious, magnificent settings, with delicate touches of english memorabilia, moroccan inspirations here and there… a stunning experience, thanks to the inspiring work of the architect Zaidan tahir, and an unmistakable influence of Charles Rennie Mackintosh works.
