Italy in a plate @ La scala
Sandwiched between the Petronas towers and Jalan Yap Kwan Seng where bars and restaurants have sprung over the last years, some with more style than substance, La Scala – a sophisticated two floors bar and restaurant within a refurnished bungalow – takes the food and beverage mandate extremely seriously.
The menu proposes classic italian dishes with a gastronomic twist that come superbly presented and prepared – the cod variation starter is a must, with its four different preparations including a cappuccino declinaison. The Antipasti combination plate is another signature dish that brings together in an ordinated fashion exquisite antipasti.
Stand-out dishes created by the talented Chef Lucio Russo include the daily homemade pasta, with a big crush for the Quattro ravioli presented in what seems to be a Mondrian painting, topped with a delicate sauce so light we couldn’t tell what it was. To finish on a stunning note, the caviar filled strawberry are infused with hot tea and come presented in a very attractive foamy setting – and they work superbly.
The food is outstanding, with excellent homemade pasta, delicious italian meat and tiramisu to die for, while the extensive wine list and attentive service suggest that La Scala is an award winning, if not ideal venue for a romantic dinner in KL.
We have been told that La Scala is working on a Brunch menu to brighten and spoil us on sundays…. but shhhh its a secret!
