Last week Kuala Lumpur was buzzing with excitation and much expectations for the Louis Vuitton flagship opening in Starhill gallery. On the 8th of january, the happy few could discover en avant première the magnificent store complete with the Haute Maroquinerie section (bags made to order), ladies and men pret-à-porter, luggages, watches, jewels, along with the classics and new collections of bags and accessories. A sanctuary of beauty and passion for an unrivaled artistic and top quality work.

Such a fashionable and classy event needed to be accompanied by ravishing fine food, and it was without much surprise that we found out Nathalie Gourmet was in charge of subliming the guests palates. The petits fours were part of the many temptations offered on this magnificent store, on a different level – the eyes being captivated by the amazing collections on display, the hands caressing the best leather selected and worked on with knowledge, and the palate in awe with such lush.

Petit fours made with foie gras on a thin crust were followed with goat cheese on its homemade soufflé cracker delicately accompanied with a refreshing jelly layer that was balancing the cheese to perfection. The tuna bouchée was an ode to asian raw fish recipes. I  fell in love with the surprising half macaroon served with a light cream and fresh berries, topped by a spicy leaf of mint – an ideal shot of freshness and sweetness mixing soft and harder texture – a very tricky realization mastered to perfection. The mini crème brulée was also a bit hit, and chocolate addicts were more than satisfied with the chocolate bouchée.

Nathalie Gourmet has been officiating in Kuala Lumpur for more than 7 years now, and offers certainly one of the best catering service in town. She also teaches cooking classes – she will teach you how to prepare your own macaroons! – in the Nathalie Gourmet Studio outlet in Publika, while preparing delicious fine dining at Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie in the city center.

This inspiring chef has received many awards for her innovative cuisine, and we salute her creativity and top quality service. Bravo Nathalie and please keep on seducing our palates for many more years!
