Buzzing @ The Bee
The Bee, in Kuala Lumpur is not exactly in the city center, but in the artiest mall of all: Publika. It’s hence the ideal place for a coffee, a lunch, brunch or sunday BBQ with the brilliant Deer Society playing happy sunday tunes in the background – a well deserved treat after having visited the various art galeries (check out MAP) and trendy vintage / arty / design shops.
I love the relaxed atmosphere, the outside area with the plants popping everywhere, the available newspapers, the nice coffee aroma… It is definitely a good place to meet friends on sunday for a late brunch and feel like you are in a garden having a pique nique. Now the food is not exquisite, but average and I have to say the chicken salad and avocado was super tasty and I was grateful for the fresh and high quality of the ingredients. Same goes for the mutton wrap – tasty, with a perfect addition of herbs that liven things up. Portions are enough, and the prices are very reasonable. All in all, food was satisfactory, simple yet efficient. The menu goes from salads to pizzas and burgers, including comfort food and few healthy options.
The Bee is also famous for the bands that come playing – apart from the awesome Deer Society (also playing in Pisco Bar) that plays from 5pm onwards on sundays, recently the fabulous islandic Ólafur Arnalds granted his fans with a beautiful concert. Check out the events program since bands renowned internationally are often coming by for our greatest pleasure!
