Let’s go Tujo
Tujo means Seven in Bahasa – as a reminder of its “old” name, before it was refurnished and reopened few months ago by the funky team that owns Souled out and WIP. Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, Tujo bears many promises of being better and brighter – with good food, fun atmosphere, and a zen-garden feeling induced by the vegetal wall and the huge ceiling-to-floor windows that show the surrounding trees.
Intrigued and eager to discover such a place that seems to meet all my needs, I first tried it for lunch and was rewarded by great service, the healthiest salad I could dream of – crispy fresh spinach, almonds and tasty feta with a bit of crunchy parmigiano – and a very relaxed atmosphere. There is a Je ne sais quoi at Tujo, maybe it’s the almost-vintage chairs, or the diffuse light, the large choice of foods or the weekly parties organized with many promotions (thursday is for Hendrick’s Gin addicts like me, friday lady’s night, wine pairing events, etc.), I felt so good that I wanted to come back asap and enjoy more of this brilliant place. So here we go on friday night!
I don’t usually do Lady’s night, but this one was pretty cool. Great spoiling / surprises for us ladies on this Hens & Heels: several girlish cocktails like mimosa are offered to the ladies from 9.30pm onwards. The crowd is quite feminine, chattering and good vibes along with good music. Since drinks go well with food and since the menu is large and covers healthy options, but also pasta, indian dishes and some malay ones, we got tempted. Once more, I was happy with my choice of generous parmigiano crusted sea bass and found the ingredients really fresh and tasty, and the overall execution delicious. My beloved Pio Cesare, italian red wine from the Piemonte was available and excellentissimo as usual. The french Chablis on the white side is also a very good choice. To finish on a sweet note, the decadent desserts are a must!
Tujo has thus met my expectations of being the perfect place for lunch, good dinner and fun night with pals. I definitely want to go back especially to try the brunch – under the trees, on this very pleasant and feng shui restaurant, I can only envision another delightful moment.
Thanks to the team for the great, smiling, service
